Understanding Gender, Sex & Sexuality (SOGIESC Workshop)
Building empathy and inclusion by exploring the spectrum of gender and sexuality. For students (9+), teachers, and youth groups.
Available in 1.5-hour (awareness) and 3-hour (detailed) versions.
Why This Workshop is Crucial
Gender and sexuality are not binary—they exist on a spectrum. Yet most children grow up with rigid ideas of "male" and "female," creating shame, confusion, and discrimination for anyone who does not fit societal expectations.
This session uses the SOGIESC (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics) framework to help participants understand the difference between sex, gender, and sexuality, develop respectful language, and build empathy.
"This workshop helps build a culture of empathy, reducing stigma through real examples, visuals, and stories of the LGBTQIA+ community."
